Use the Kazoo to modulate your voice and provide the unique sounds that only a Kazoo can provide. The whole idea is a kazoo player sings or speaks through the Kazoo which makes the membrane vibrate and creates a humming, "nasal" sound. By wholly or partially covering up the membrane hole a wide range of different sounds are created.

The membrane is the key point of the kazoo. This membrane gives the kazoo its distinction from other instruments.Therefore it is of no use to simply blow through a kazoo, which is a common mistake among first time kazoo-users.
